New research from Rightmove reveals which home features have grown the most in popularity, they’ve based this on the number of agents listing them as key selling points.

The need for more space and open plan living, hybrid working, and worries about the environment are molding the way we look at our homes and what our needs are for new homes.

A garden office is top of the list, as we see the number of listings mentioning them is now 11 times higher than it was ten years ago.

Bi-fold doors come in second, up by a massive 589% compared to ten years ago, then we have orangeries up 173% and underfloor heating rising by 114%.

Summer houses make the list being up 90%, however, greenhouses appear to be a thing of the past, as these are down 46%.

As worries about the environment climb the priority list, the number of new listings mentioning a car charging point has increased six times (up 495%) compared with only a year ago.

This research suggests homeowners are looking to ditch separate dining rooms for a modern open plan option, dining rooms being mentioned in adverts are down by 28%, however, open-plan room mentions are up 74%. The dining room decline could be due to people converting these into a home working space.

Conservatories, greenhouses, and fitted wardrobes are other features that are becoming less popular according to property listings.
