Boosting your home's kerb appeal is really important when you’re preparing to sell. It’s important that you make a good first impression to potential buyers and passers-by and you’ll also be boosting its value.

The sunny weather is here, spring flowers are looking amazing, and summer is coming! June is getting closer and it’s a great time to work on your garden to make sure you have the WOW factor. Find out how to keep your garden looking fabulous all season with our 5 summer gardening tips.

The Weeds!

Weeds can pop up, even in the most maintained gardens. As the warmer weather appears, the weeds appear, however, you can deter them from growing.

Here’s how:

• Mulch
• Pull when wet, hoe when dry
• Chop of their heads
• Close plant spacing
• Water your plants, not the weeds

Fertiliser

There are lots to choose from, so make sure you find a fertiliser that will work best in your garden. The most healthy gardens use fertiliser as soil alone doesn’t supply enough nutrients to flowers and plants. Apply it in the middle of summer to give your garden a boost during the hottest months.

Watering

You should try to water your garden early morning or late evening, so it’s still cool. It enables the water to reach the roots of the plant without excess water loss due to evaporation.

Cutting Shrubs

Early summer is the best time to cut back most of the spring-flowering shrubbery. Prune growth that has just finished flowering down to an outward-facing bud, as well as any damaged or crossing branches, remove them completely or to a satisfactory growth.

Annual Bedding Plants

If you’re not planting in May, you’ll have time to get plants into the ground or their new pots in June but do it early. Place them in good light, this should stop them from becoming drawn and dying in the shade.

Throughout summer, deadheading regularly will keep your garden looking fresh, neat, and appealing to buyers.
