Top tips to fall in love with your new home!
Moving into a new home can be a lot like starting in a new relationship. It’s an exciting time, but it can take a while to get used to your new property, as you may have just moved from your family home of many years.
It is perfectly normal to be feeling stressed and impatient as you wait to buy new furniture for your home, or even give it a complete makeover. The good thing is, there are plenty of ways to re-energise your home without having to make dramatic changes or spend a huge amount of money along the way!
Check out our tips on how to do this…
Manage the clutter
Before moving into your new home, it is important that you sort through the clutter! Cluttered homes are no fun to live in and it will gradually begin to pile up on you as the days go by. Decluttering will help you enjoy your new home and will leave you with a more ordered and practical environment to live in.
Restyle your space
If you have furniture to move in with, you could consider moving it around to create a whole new flow for your room or taking things from one room and repurposing them in another. Whether it’s a vase, some cushions, a mirror or even a side table. By doing this, it will help you notice those things again and appreciate them like you used to. Another simple impact can be made if you switch out the photos you have in your frames and then updating them with more recent ones.
Spring clean / Fix up
Before moving into your new home, we recommend giving it a spring clean. You could consider getting someone in to clean the oven, shampoo the carpets or hoover all the rooms. By doing this, you should feel happy to move your furniture in knowing that it’s all recently been cleaned thoroughly. After the spring clean, you should fix those little things! By this we mean, a tap that may been dripping or the lose floorboard that squeaks. These aren’t big things, but when you’re moving into the property they may begin to be a real annoyance.
Comfort is key
Think about which areas in your home are the most important to you, and spend some time making them comfortable and convenient. You could consider, adding lighting, move the side table closer to your sofa or even investing in some new cushions.
If you give a small amount of love and attention to your new home! You’ll soon forget what this empty home ever felt like.
