Moving to a new home can be a tiring process! There is a lot that goes into it, not to mention that you have to fit it around your everyday life.

Check out our tips…

Find a good moving company

The first thing you’ll need to do is find a good quality moving company. A good moving crew can make life so much easier, so unless you don’t have a lot of things and have plenty of time on your hands, then you’re going to need to rely on a mover.

When looking for a team, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, make sure the company is fully insured. If something happens to an item in transit, you’ll want to have the damage covered. Secondly, make sure the mover has received good reviews and finally, compare their rates with other companies.

Create a detailed itinerary

Before you start, create an itinerary for yourself. This will be a list of everything that needs doing and everything you have already done. By jotting it down, you will feel confident you won’t forget anything.

If you are packing yourself, it’s important you stay organised! Don’t just throw things in boxes without any thought, you’ll find that your moving day is more complicated than it needs to be. Consider labelling each box as you pack it up. Try keeping similar items grouped together so they’re easier to find when you move to a new house.

Make sure your new home is ready

Make sure you have the date secured, so that there isn’t anyone still living in the home when you get there. You’ll also want to talk to the utilities companies so that everything is still running before you move in.

During the unpacking stage, it’s important not to rush. You’ll have plenty of time to unpack everything. Rushing can lead to exhaustion and exhaustion could lead to breaking things. Take a few days if needs be and get the packing done a little bit at a time.

Turning your house into a home

Start decorating the way you like, organising things like your bookshelves and cabinets and start cleaning things like the windows and floors. There will be dust and dirt tracked in during the move, so take the time to really scrub everything down. Once you’ve finished not only will you have a place that is set up how you want, but it’ll be clean enough to live in!

Our tips should help you to learn how to relax during a house move and hopefully reduce the amount of stress that comes with moving!
