For many of us, the thought of moving to a new house is a scary thought, but it doesn’t always have to be. With proper preparation and helpful techniques, you will be able to lessen the stress on the day of the move. Making the whole process flow smoother for everyone involved.

Before the big day, it is important that you have a plan and make sure you leave plenty of time to prepare. How much time you’ll have will depend on how much stuff you have and what sort of property you currently live in. If you live with your partner and kids in a big house and have lots of possessions, chances are you’re going to need longer to prepare, but if you live alone in a one-bedroom flat with little belongings you might only need a week or two to prepare.
Packing up your possessions in boxes and having to transport them without them breaking can be stressful. The more stuff you have, the more time consuming this may be. You can reduce this stress by looking through all the fragile items that you own now. Make sure you put them away and try get rid as much as possible.
Get friends / family to help
Moving to a new house can be difficult if you are doing it alone, so why not get someone else to help you! Investing in some help, can make your move much easier to handle. Whether it be friends or even a removal company, both will be able to ease some of the stress whilst moving.
Get the kids out
If you have children, it is best to get them out the way on moving day. It is difficult to be able to parent and look after the kids, when you are in the process of moving. Children running around, requiring attention. Them possibly hurting themselves or breaking items can cause you more stress during a move so if possible, try to find a relative to look after them so you can focus purely on the day.
It can be a good idea to get in the habit of practicing relaxation techniques before you move to a new house. You could use yoga, deep breathing, meditation, running or just sitting down reading a book in the evening can really help to relieve the stress and make the whole experience a lot less stressful.
