How to Prep Your House for Winter Kerb Appeal in your Surrey or Sussex Home

As a homeowner you shouldn’t wait around to prep for the winter months. Between autumn and winter, the weather can wreak havoc on your homes exterior.

However, improving your winter kerb appeal is actually quite simple, it may take a bit of prep but if you are looking to sell your home – it’s worth it!

Tidy Lawn and Green Grass

During autumn leaves start to fall and crumple up, if left alone they become huge piles which can cause some harm to your lawn. Not only does it look unappealing, but it can smother and kill your grass too early, leaving your lawn spotty through out autumn and winter.

Here are a few things you can do on a decent day:

  • Clear the dead leaves off your lawn. Maybe gently shake some loose leaves off trees if you can reach – this should help loosen any that are due to fall
  • Mow the grass for the final time in November to cast out any dead grass
  • Feed your lawn with fertilizer to save it from being barren in the winter

Plant Winter/Annual Flowers

There are some plants that survive during the winter seasons, you can change up your usual garden or flowerbed by planting some shrubs and flowers that thrive in the winter. Blue holly is a nice choice as it creates these beautiful red berries.

Re-paint

You can add some extra colour by painting your front door a different colour and maybe going around the door frame and windows to make these areas look a bit fresher.

Clean the Exterior

Don’t neglect the outside of your home, make sure to clean any loose branches and leaves, especially on your roof, as these can cause the most damage to your home. Invest in some weed killer for any loose weeds on your front porch.

Lights

Lights in winter always makes everything seem cosy and safe. Having some nice motion lights at the front and maybe some solar lamps or fairy lights in the garden can make for a nice touch. Especially now the days are getting darker quicker.

Winter is a nice time to show your home can be cosy and relaxing. You want potential buyers to feel instantly invited and safe the moment they look at the outside of the home.

Hopefully, these tips can help you sell your home in winter.
