Crawley couple fall victim to property scam.

A couple from West Sussex have been tricked out of hundreds of pounds after viewing a fake property.

Mr and Mrs Wilcox saw an advertisement online for what they thought was the perfect flat, Mrs Wilcox said she fell in love with the property and contacted the vendor to arrange to view the property.

The seller requested £650 as a holding deposit to stop anyone else from viewing the property.

Mrs Wilcox said: "We thought the process was strange handing over money for a holding deposit, but we didn't think too much about it at the time because I was just in love with the property."

The 50-year-old added: "I was showing all my friends at work the pictures of the property, I was so excited."

When the couple arrived to view the property in Three Bridges, Crawley, there was an old bungalow and no flat.

No one turned up to meet them and their money looks like it may have disappeared for good.
